The Howzat Foundation for Cricket is a private, non-profit sports organization, committed to the development and promotion of cricket in Nigeria, especially at the grassroots level.
The Foundation came into existence in 1991 at a time cricket was almost dead in the country and needed to be given a boost.
We started off by publishing a magazine, which we distributed free to schools in a bid to arouse interest in the game especially in schools that had a tradition of cricket. Thereafter, we organized competitions ranging from inter-house championships to state leagues and an inter-state super league, involving five (5) states.
